One of the amazing things about growing Pedal on Parliament beyond Edinburgh and Aberdeen is finding out just how much support there is for our aims from forward-thinking businesses operating in Scotland. You may already know that cycle hire scheme operator nextbike donated annual memberships as a reward for our crowdfunder. They recognise that, if people don’t feel safe cycling, then they won’t hire bikes.
We’re very pleased to tell you that nextbike have now also made two hundred free cycle hires available for Pedal on Parliament Glasgow. These are on a first-come-first-served basis and are valid for a five-hour hire on the day of Sunday 23rd April. This allows plenty of time to cycle from anywhere in Glasgow where there’s a nextbike hire station to Glasgow Green to take part in POP and then cycle back again afterwards. To claim your free hire, simply email firstname.lastname@example.org quoting “POP2017”.
This will be useful to those of you who otherwise might need to use a car to get to Glasgow Green – with a free nextbike hire, you can, instead, get the bus or train and pick up your hire bike. To accommodate demand, extra nextbike cycles will be available at the hire stands at Queen Street station and on Glasgow Green itself.
And, however you get there, we’ll see you at Glasgow Green on Sunday 23rd April — be ready to ride at 1pm and help us to make Scotland a cycle-friendly country!
Bikeless Edinburgh PoPpers needn’t feel left out – as well as being able to Pedestrian on Parliament, Biketrax have just generously announced half-price bike hire for anyone wanting to attend POP in Edinburgh on the 22nd.
