It’s been a hard few weeks and months in the world of cycle campaigning. It’s been difficult to find much to write about that is positive. The last thing we want to be is a campaign that is always looking at the negatives, but something good has to happen for us to be able to write about it. We are eternally hopeful that good news is just around the corner.
That’s why it gives the Pedal on Parliament team the greatest of pleasure to announce that our very own Sally Hinchcliffe has been awarded the Sheila McKechnie Foundation (SMK) Transport campaigner award !
Whilst POP is very much a team effort, and that very much includes the help we get from those outside the core organising team, Sally is an individual who puts her heart and soul into making cycling safe for all. Much of what you see on this website is drafted by Sally, and her insight, attention to detail and steady hand help keep POP cycling in the right direction. I’m sure you will join us in congratulating Sally on an award well deserved!
Of course none of the POP team are in this for the awards. Whilst it is nice to receive national recognition for our and Sally’s work, the real prize is investment in safer cycling on Scotland’s roads. We will continue to work tirelessly towards this goal and will continue to say what needs to be said. We need your help as well though, as there is only one Sally. So please keep supporting us, keep sending letters to your MSPs, keep tweeting, keep blogging and keep turning up at POP.
Sally and the rest of the POP team need your help to make Scotland a cycle friendly nation.
