One problem some people have encountered at previous PoPs has been how to find a safe route back to the Meadows and beyond once all the excitement is over. This year we’ve got some volunteers who are willing to lead ‘unfeeder rides’ back to the Meadows for anyone who wants a quiet route back in company. The rides will leave from the Parliament area from about 1:30 – listen out for announcements, and look for the PoP pop-up banner marking the muster spot.

This will be the route – it’s not traffic free but it’s fairly quiet. There’s one short steep section which may need to be walked, especially if you’re towing kids or little (or big) legs have got tired, but otherwise it is a fairly easy route.

For those of you who came from further afield on feeder rides – talk to your ride leader about whether they will be running return rides, and make arrangements to meet up if so – or else you could join forces with your fellow participants on an informal basis to get home.

However do you it, we hope you have a safe and pleasant journey home, and we look forward to the time when anyone can ride in and out of central Edinburgh – or anywhere in Scotland – without needing an organised ride. Then we truly will be a cycle-friendly country…
