As the PoP team continue to recover from last month’s event, we’re featuring local campaigns and initiatives that are trying to take the cycle-friendly message to our Local Authorities around Scotland. This week it’s the turn of the Edinburgh Breakfast Bike rides…

On Wednesday, 19th June, Edinburgh residents will once again be accompanying their political representatives along their cycling commuting routes to central Edinburgh, meeting at the City Chambers for the annual Spokes Bike Breakfast.
This year’s organisers hope to double the number of councillors attending the rides and breakfast.

“After a record turn out of more than 4,000 people at POP2 this year it is clear our representatives have an obligation to engage with us, we are providing the perfect opportunity to have a meaningful conversation about cycling”.

Last year over a dozen councillors took part, but organisers hope even more will join on this year’s ride.

“It’s not only a chance to discuss how to improve things for cyclists, but is also a fun start to the day.”
