For anyone who likes to go the extra mile (or rather, 47 extra miles) we’ve been contacted by the organisers of the Central Belt Challenge. This is a chance for you to raise money for charity as well as give your support for POP with a charity bike ride from Glasgow. The organiser, Callum Weir, writes:

The Central Belt Challenge is a 47 mile cycle from the iconic Glasgow Green to the Meadows in Edinburgh. The event is trying to raise money and awareness for two separate issues. Firstly, the event is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support as all four of the event organisers have had somebody in their life affected by cancer. Secondly, when we arrive in Edinburgh we are joining up with the Pedal on Parliament event which is campaigning for much needed updates in cycling infrastructure in Scotland.
All cyclists will be leaving Glasgow Green at 9am so we suggest you arrive at 8.30am. Registration is £5 and all funds raised will go to Macmillan Cancer Support. Their will be water and food stops along the route and in Edinburgh you will be presented with a certificate with your time on it! To register please e-mail register@centralbeltchallenge.co.uk and you will be sent a registration e-mail or call Callum Weir on 07825711117.

There’s a facebook page as well.

Update: if you haven’t registered yet, you can just turn up on the day – be at Glasgow Green at 8:30 raring to go…
