There are plans afoot at PoP Towers, but for now we urge everyone to get behind We Want to See Double. Pedestrians (or ‘everyone’ to use a technical term) and cyclists are urged to get to Edinburgh at 1pm on Wednesday 30th October and join Stop Climate Chaos outside St Andrew’s House to urge John Swinney to double the funding available for cycling and walking.

It was at a similar protest just under two years ago that the first seeds were sown for Pedal on Parliament. At the time, the draft budget had cut funding for active travel and the outlook for cycling looked bleak. The impressive turnout for that first demonstration, and of course the thousands who have turned up at the last two PoPs, have reversed that decline for now, but spending is still nowhere near the level that experts agree is needed to bring about a real change in cycling and halt the current decline in walking. Your voice and your presence is needed to remind our politicians that the current spending is not enough. And if you can’t make it in person (and even if you can) please write to your MSPs.

Plans are still unfolding but watch this space for news of possible feeder rides. We appreciate not everyone can make it to a mid-week lunchtime demo but if you possibly can please do.
